Happy New Year!

Last year (2019) was a crazy year for many – and crazier and more overwhelming and exhausting than I think most would likely admit, even and especially to themselves. My hope is, as we head into the ‘roaring twenties’ of this new millennium, that this year will be ‘better’. That is, that we’ll all feel more resilient, with more endurance, and better prepared and equipped to handle the times ahead – and Lord knows, some people have big plans for the next 5-10-15-25 years, and beyond… Following are a few points of note along those lines…

First of all, with all that is ‘going wrong’ in and with the world ‘these days’, how should we approach and view things – and more importantly; people, one another?

As for you, you meant evil against me, [but] God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive.

Genesis 50:20 [NASB]

How should we witness to one another? Well, we’re all different, with different talents and abilities, different interests and skill sets. But ultimately, doesn’t it come down to just being a good malleable piece of clay in the Potter’s hands, for Him to fashion us as whatever vessel He sees fit…?

You will say to me then, “Why does He still find fault? For who resists His will?” On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to God? The thing molded will not say to the molder, “Why did you make me like this,” will it? Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for common use? [emphasis added]

Romans 9:19-21 [NASB]

Therefore, we needn’t worry, and simply entrust ourselves to His faithful and capable hands…

But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say. [emphasis added]

Matthew 10:19 [NASB]

So, we best prepare, in order to be a useful vessel…

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. [emphasis added]

2 Timothy 2:15 [NASB]

I think most people take things far too lightly, failing to realize the grand deception that appears now before us.

Let no one in any way deceive you, for [it will not come] unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things? And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains [will do so] until he is taken out of the way. Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; [that is,] the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness. [emphasis added]

2 Thessalonians 2:3-12 [NASB]

This is no small matter, considering the ruthless times ahead…

“For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will. “Unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short. [emphasis added]

Matthew 24:21-22 [NASB]

And speaking of the ruthless and cunning times ahead, this passage seems prescient now more than ever.

Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb and he spoke as a dragon. He exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence. And he makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed. He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down out of heaven to the earth in the presence of men. And he deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs which it was given him to perform in the presence of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who had the wound of the sword and has come to life. And it was given to him to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast would even speak and cause as many as do not worship the image of the beast to be killed. And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, and [he provides] that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, [either] the name of the beast or the number of his name. [emphasis added]

Google’s Selfish Ledger is an unsettling vision of Silicon Valley social engineering – The Verge

Google has built a multibillion-dollar business out of knowing everything about its users. Now, a video produced within Google and obtained by The Verge offers a stunningly ambitious and unsettling look at how some at the company envision using that information in the future.

[…]

Titled The Selfish Ledger, the 9-minute film starts off with a history of Lamarckian epigenetics, which are broadly concerned with the passing on of traits acquired during an organism’s lifetime. Narrating the video, Foster acknowledges that the theory may have been discredited when it comes to genetics but says it provides a useful metaphor for user data. (The title is an homage to Richard Dawkins’ 1976 book The Selfish Gene.) The way we use our phones creates “a constantly evolving representation of who we are,” which Foster terms a “ledger,” positing that these data profiles could be built up, used to modify behaviors, and transferred from one user to another…

[…]

The so-called ledger of our device use — the data on our “actions, decisions, preferences, movement, and relationships” — is something that could conceivably be passed on to other users much as genetic information is passed on through the generations, … says [Nick Foster, the head of design at X (formerly Google X) and a co-founder of the Near Future Laboratory].

[…]

Foster envisions a future where “the notion of a goal-driven ledger becomes more palatable” and “suggestions may be converted not by the user but by the ledger itself.” This is where the Black Mirror undertones come to the fore, with the ledger actively seeking to fill gaps in its knowledge and even selecting data-harvesting products to buy that it thinks may appeal to the user. The example given in the video is a bathroom scale because the ledger doesn’t yet know how much its user weighs. The video then takes a further turn toward anxiety-inducing sci-fi, imagining that the ledger may become so astute as to propose and 3D-print its own designs. Welcome home, Dave, I built you a scale.

The Data That Turned the World Upside Down | Public Policy Program

Kosinski and his team tirelessly refined their models. In 2012, Kosinski proved that on the basis of an average of 68 Facebook “likes” by a user, it was possible to predict their skin color (with 95 percent accuracy), their sexual orientation (88 percent accuracy), and their affiliation to the Democratic or Republican party (85 percent). But it didn’t stop there. Intelligence, religious affiliation, as well as alcohol, cigarette and drug use, could all be determined. From the data it was even possible to deduce whether deduce whether someone’s parents were divorced.

The strength of their modeling was illustrated by how well it could predict a subject’s answers. Kosinski continued to work on the models incessantly: before long, he was able to evaluate a person better than the average work colleague, merely on the basis of ten Facebook “likes.” Seventy “likes” were enough to outdo what a person’s friends knew, 150 what their parents knew, and 300 “likes” what their partner knew. More “likes” could even surpass what a person thought they knew about themselves. On the day that Kosinski published these findings, he received two phone calls. The threat of a lawsuit and a job offer. Both from Facebook. [emphasis added]

Geordie Rose of Kindred AI presents Super-intelligent Aliens Are Coming to Earth – TechVancouver.Org – YouTube

[Watch 3:20-10:12]

I’m gonna talk about aliens. But before I do…

[…]

…what Kindred [AI] is trying to do is build real AI. So what you’ve heard about AI is not what we mean by AI. What we mean by AI is a software system that can do literally anything that a human can do – literally anything – and obviously computers are better at things than people in lots of different ways. So now imagine not only can they do everything that a human can do, but they can do everything that the best human at any task could do better than them. So imagine there was the mental Olympics of the hundred meter dash and Usain Bolt is the fastest person, now imagine that’s some kind of a mental thing, like writing a novel, or writing whatever. Imagine now that the thing is so much faster than Usain Bolt, like for example, a spaceship. It’s still doing the same thing but it’s doing it so much better, because we’re limited, because we’re people. So what kindred is trying to do is solve this problem; how do you build machines that are better than people at everything? Now there’s a mental block that we have here when we think about this, because when you think about that, one of your questions might be, for example, “What are the applications of this?” So imagine this; imagine for $10, let’s say, I could build a machine like a little robot that had fingers and eyes and all that, and it could do your job better than you, no matter what it is, and I could sell that to your employer for, say $15, and make a profit, instead of having to pay you $100,000 a year. Now imagine that was true for every single job. So that’s what we’re talking about here is a complete and utter transformative change, that of the likes of which has never been seen before in the history of humanity, making the Industrial Revolution look like a little tiny blip … We are right on the verge of that transition now.

[…]

So, say I’m the president of the United States. So I receive this message from the heavens. So, my microwave dish, my SETI dish finally captures something, and what it says is, “In 50 years (or 13 years) we’re coming to your planet. You got to be ready.” Now, just imagine what would happen if it if that happened; a super intelligent alien race beamed down a message to all of us Earthlings saying, “We’re coming July 13th, 2030, and boy you’d better be ready, because the mothership is landing right on the front lawn of the White House (or wherever you wanted it to land) on that day.” The amount of resources that would be marshalled to try to figure out what to do would – it would encompass the whole world. AI is just like that.

[…]

So the one thing I can tell you is, they’re not going to be like us. … they’re not gonna be like us, they’re gonna be aliens. And they’re gonna be, I’m sorry to say, way smarter than every single person in this room, in ways that we can’t even comprehend. So this of course triggers a lot of alarm. … they’re not good, they’re not evil. They just don’t give a s**t about you even in the slightest. The same way you don’t care about an ant is the same way they’re not gonna care about you. And these things that were summoning into the world now are not demons they’re not evil but they’re more like the Lovecraftian great old ones. They are entities that are not necessarily going to be aligned with what we want, so this transition is really really massively important for our entire species to navigate.

[…]

…nobody is paying attention. This thing is happening in the background while people bicker about politics and what’s gonna be in the health care plan in the US, and underneath it all is this rising tsunami, that if we’re not careful, is going to wipe us all out. [emphasis added]

AMERICA – POSTMORTEM?

Will it be said by future generations that this nation died without suspecting the cause of its mortal sickness?

It requires approximately one thousand minutes to read this volume, after which the reader will reject or accept it, as it is no haven for neutrals and no camouflage for treason. It is intended that this revelation will force upon the reader an unequivocal division of the issues pertaining to a suffering world; that he may penetrate the deeper meaning of world revolution from which he will find himself on one side or the other. It will, it is hoped, remove the veil of imaginary patriotism and catapult the reader from his state of euphoria into the conscious reality of the spiritual power that has moulded him into a mental zombie.

This is not a justification for the preconditioning of the American people but a challenge to it. It is most definitely not an essay on the social evils of a collective world state but is an analysis of its spirit of subterfuge.

Seeing that Christianity could not be consumed by so many and great persecutions, but from them instead the impetus to “fill the whole earth,” the workers of wrath have attacked the conscience of the world by fabricating a counterfeit Christianity. More deceptively however, they have added the dimension of feigned persecution to their stratagem of “Fundamental Christianity,” the reaction to which is to deceive humanity into a world social state in the name of Jesus Christ. Americans will be surprised to learn that America is being used as the major incubator of this neo-orthodox [i.e. counterfeit] Christianity which is not antagonistic to Marxian Communism at all, but is indeed the spirit of it.

It is this spiritual Communism in the guise of Christianity that is to emerge as the crowning achievement of world revolution. [emphasis added]

WW3 – Albert Pike and the Three World Wars

The Third World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences caused by the ‘agentur’ of the ‘Illuminati’ between the political Zionists [Israel] and the leaders of Islamic World [Saudi ArabiaWahhabism / Salafism / Deobandism]. The war must be conducted in such a way that Islam (the Moslem Arabic World) and political Zionism (the State of Israel) mutually destroy each other. Meanwhile the other nations, once more divided on this issue will be constrained to fight to the point of complete physical, moral, spiritual and economical exhaustion. We shall unleash the Nihilists and the atheists, and we shall provoke a formidable social cataclysm which in all its horror will show clearly to the nations the effect of absolute atheism, origin of savagery and of the most bloody turmoil. Then everywhere, the citizens, obliged to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization, and the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity, whose deistic spirits will from that moment be without compass or direction, anxious for an ideal, but without knowing where to render its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer, brought finally out in the public view. This manifestation will result from the general reactionary movement which will follow the destruction of Christianity and atheism, both conquered and exterminated at the same time. [emphasis added]

Frankfurt School Weaponized US Education Against Civilization (November 5, 2019) – The Epoch Times

A key tool of these conspirators in Moscow would come to be known as the Frankfurt School. From the Institute in Frankfurt and later New York, these cultural revolutionaries would promote feminism, communism, atheism, mass migration, globalism, humanism, multiculturalism, nihilism, hedonism, environmentalism, and all sorts of other “isms” that tended to undermine individual liberty, traditional culture, and morality. Rampant morality-free sexuality and Freudian pseudo-pscyhology were central to the agenda. [emphasis added]

Cultural Marxism, Antonio Gramsci, and The Frankfurt School (March 31, 2018) – VoegelinView

On one hand, it appears that the current militant wave of atheism in Western culture is a contemporary phase of a much older nihilism. Yet given that Marxism foments envy and resentment, atheism is utilized to denounce capitalist societies. While not every atheist is a Marxist, it is necessarily true that every Marxist is an atheist. Bolshevism is the creation of an unprecedented form of social-political terror that aims to weaken the human psyche’s ability to exercise autonomy. Marxism’s embrace of the role of devil’s advocate, in its perpetual incitement of class warfare, is a technique for the destabilization of democracy. It is naive not to realize that Gramsci’s thought is intellectualized Bolshevism. [emphasis added]

We shall not try to make these people or any of their children into philosophers or men of learning or science. We are not to raise up from among them authors, orators, poets, or men of letters. It was then, at an American port, that he said: “They don’t realize that we’re bringing them the plague.” This is precisely what happened. Little by little the “plague of Freudism” spread far beyond the laboratory in Vienna. [emphasis added]

Propaganda (1928) by Edward Bernays

THE conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country.
We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society. [emphasis added]

CHAPTER I: ORGANIZING CHAOS

New activities call for new nomenclature. The propagandist who specializes in interpreting enterprises and ideas to the public, and in interpreting the public to promulgators of new enterprises and ideas, has come to be known by the name of “public relations counsel.”

CHAPTER III: THE NEW PROPAGANDISTS

The systematic study of mass psychology revealed to students the potentialities of invisible government of society by manipulation of the motives which actuate man in the group. Trotter and Le Bon, who approached the subject in a scientific manner, and Graham Wallas, Walter Lippmann and others who continued with searching studies of the group mind, established that the group has mental characteristics distinct from those of the individual, and is motivated by impulses and emotions which cannot be explained on the basis of what we know of individual psychology. So the question naturally arose: If we understand the mechanism and motives of the group mind, is it not possible to control and regiment the masses according to our will without their knowing it? Cochlear implants, originally used just for the hearing impaired, are now ubiquitous. These implants provide auditory communication in both directions between the human user and the worldwide computing network.
Direct neural pathways have been perfected for high‐bandwidth connection to the human brain. This allows bypassing certain neural regions (for example, visual pattern recognition, long‐term memory) and augmenting or replacing the functions of these regions with computing performed either in a neural implant or externally.

Why the Future Doesn’t Need Us by Bill Joy (April 1, 2000) | WIRED

From the moment I became involved in the creation of new technologies, their ethical dimensions have concerned me, but it was only in the autumn of 1998 that I became anxiously aware of how great are the dangers facing us in the 21st century. I can date the onset of my unease to the day I met Ray Kurzweil, the deservedly famous inventor of the first reading machine for the blind and many other amazing things.

[…]

Ray gave me a partial preprint of his then-forthcoming book The Age of Spiritual Machines, which outlined a utopia he foresaw—one in which humans gained near immortality by becoming one with robotic technology. On reading it, my sense of unease only intensified; I felt sure he had to be understating the dangers, understating the probability of a bad outcome along this path.

NOBEL ECONOMIST: ‘I don’t think globalisation is anywhere near the threat that robots are’

The World Economic Forum (WEF) predicted a “Fourth Industrial Revolution” at the start of this year, as automation and robotics transform the global economy and the way we work. WEF expects 5 million jobs to be destroyed by 2020 by the trends. An in-depth study by Citi and Oxford University also found that 77% of all jobs in China are at risk of automation and 57% of all jobs across the OECD.

Changes are already starting to be seen. Foxconn, a key manufacturing partner for Apple, Google, Amazon, and the world’s 10th largest employer, has already replaced 60,000 workers with robots. And two of the world’s ten largest employers globally — Walmart and the US Department of Defence — are using drones, for warehouse delivery and surveillance respectively.

UW Scientist Henry Lai Makes Waves in the Cell Phone Industry | Seattle Magazine

After Lai and Singh’s research finding an effect on DNA was published in 1995, Lai learned of a full-scale effort to discredit his work. In an internal company memo leaked to Microwave News, a publication that examines health and environmental effects of electromagnetic radiation, Motorola described its plan to “war-game” and undermine Lai’s research. After initially accepting industry funding for continued research from the Wireless Technology Research (WTR) program (created to manage $25 million in research funds), Lai and Singh wrote an open letter to Microwave News questioning restrictions placed on their research by the funders. After that, the head of WTR sent a memo asking then-UW president Richard McCormick to fire Lai and Singh. McCormick refused, but the dustup sent a clear message to Lai and his colleagues.

“This shocked me,” Lai says, “the letter trying to discredit me, the ‘war games’ memo. As a scientist doing research, I was not expecting to be involved in a political situation. It opened my eyes on how games are played in the world of business.”

Thus was launched an epic battle over research and truth.
