We continue the emphasis of good news, glad tidings, and of peace on earth, good will toward men. As we continue to focus on season’s greetings, and the Reason for the Season, it is perhaps important – for this audience, in particular, if not for others as well – for each of us to decide for ourselves how we will respond to the awareness, new-found in some cases, resources like the Republic Broadcasting Network (RBN) and the Road Warrior Radio (RWR) broadcast afford. In the spirit of the season and its Reason, here are a few ideas which come readily to my mind.

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”

Luke 2:14 [KJV]

To the pure, all things are pure…

Titus 1:15 [NASB]

One person regards one day above another, another regards every day [alike.] Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind.

Romans 14:5 [NASB]

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God,

1 Corinthians 2:12 [NASB]

“You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy.’ “But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

Matthew 5:43-44 [NASB]

“Woe [to you] when all men speak well of you, for their fathers used to treat the false prophets in the same way. But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either. Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back. Treat others the same way you want them to treat you. If you love those who love you, what credit is [that] to you? For even sinners love those who love them. If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is [that] to you? For even sinners do the same. If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is [that] to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same [amount.] But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil [men.] Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned. Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure–pressed down, shaken together, [and] running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.”

Luke 6:26-38 [NASB]

So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, [then] you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

John 8:31-32 [NASB]

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8 [NASB]

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Matthew 6:33

…the great pillars of all government and of social life; …virtue, morality, and religion. This is the armor … and this alone, that renders us invincible. These are the tactics we should study. If we lose these, we are conquered, fallen indeed. …so long as our manners and principles remain sound, there is no danger.

Patrick Henry, letter to Archibald Blair (January 8, 1799)

There never was a good war or a bad peace.

Benjamin Franklin, letter to Sir Joseph Banks, president of the Royal Society of London, July 1783. Also cited in a letter to Quincy, Sr., American merchant, planter and politician, September 1783
