As we come to the conclusion of the year – and decade – it is perhaps important to reflect on the significance of our own influence, each and every one of us, upon circumstances… not only on one another, but our own as well. And while this point may seem self-evident, when viewed through the lens (perspective) of stories like Groundhog Day, A Christmas Carol, and It’s A Wonderful Life, it suddenly becomes quite clear how oblivious of the obvious we can all at times be. A gentle reminder can be helpful. Therefore, may we all reflect, and in the spirit of the Irving Berlin & Ellin Mackay story perhaps, offer one another our very best.

It is more noble to give yourself completely to one individual than to labor diligently for the salvation of the masses.

Dag Hammarskjöld, second UN Secretary-General, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate
